Our most cherished and time honored tradition

Since 1942

The Let’s Pretend Ball is a time honored tradition that started during World War II when the importance of raising funds for those in need took precedence over elaborate parties.

Since 1942, the Let’s Pretend Ball has raised millions of dollars to help us deliver high-quality services and programs that prepare children to enter kindergarten, empower young people to succeed in college, support families in finding work, and help seniors live independently.

For many, a new season of life means a fresh start. At Grand St. Settlement, this fresh start looks like opportunities to reconnect, to grow and to be optimistic about the future. This is especially refreshing in the midst of our collective battle with COVID-19; we’re doing everything we can to protect our community including mandating our staff to receive the COVID-19 vaccines.

100% of your gift will go directly to improving the lives of New Yorkers in the highest-need neighborhoods.

This new season also brings exciting new programs to Grand Street:

Three new early childhood centers in Brooklyn.

Three new community schools for a total of six in the GSS network that will help school-aged children and parents connect with resources to help the whole family.

Our Best Buy Teen Tech Center will be opening in early October to bring state of the art technology and inquisitive youth together for exploration.

Senior programs are operating in-person at Essex Crossing Community Center on the Lower East Side.

The innovation and continuity of programs and services are made possible through the generosity and support of donors like you who understand the value of our work.
